Hollywood Makeover

Who's never bored with oneself?
So long time passed since I've had black hair but I still aim for something new. I'm not so keen on testing everything on myself so I got ecstatic when I found
on InStyle website !!!
It allows so perfectly to fit  a hairstyle that it's breathtaking.
Though...I wouldn't rely on blonde there. Unless you're after carrotish yellowish orange shade. Anyway black is black, brown is brown but blonde may be many things.
Not only hairstyle but even make up, eyebrows, lances and so on... particular products available on market. All Dior lipstick shades!!!
Amazing thing! true makeover but not always Hollywood.

Even my man started to appreciate blonde hair that he so hated not longer than a week ago.
I've always wondered perhaps I'm like hidden Dita and total change can only be better.

well...
No Dita but an old hag would fit me better. Definitively it could improve my drinking image.

And in the morning without a drop of makeup and unbrushed eyebrows I would glow among greyness of British weather.

Maybe a bit lighter but still 'natural coloured' I thought...

It's just like Jessica Biel in Tall Man

Some misunderstanding for the movie requirements but never on the street. But fortunately soon in November again brighter in Hitchcock.

With no makeup -sometimes scary- but essential since you'd have to live with it. And dark brown, as many people think after giving themselves rights to advice, 'would look so much better on you!!!' Once I even heard 'your face is like your hair, both yellow. You have to change it to get a contrast.' Putting on the side a question Why do we live in times of peasants who think they can comment negatively and in public looks of others - strangers?
I checked how lovely I would shine every morning.

So I thought well...maybe red then on my row face which is basically blue and pink - summer type features.

This application is great! totally fulfilled my need for Red Mad Man. Maybe in my second life.

Because my aunt is coming so soon I already stated relaxing process since I know she will again insist on 'short and easy-to-do geometrical hairstyle' and that makes me wonder How come I encourage people to give me advices I don't look for.
In the morning...

with a bit of decency... (personally I don't get it how women can leave home even without a bit of concealer or mascara or regulated eyebrows or unbrushed hair)
unbelievable program!!!

It's the only option I've never even considered that appeared to be flattering especially with a glass of wine. Can you still roll pin curls here ???

But perhaps just as Jessica in Easy Virtue should keep that image ...

I should just stay as always I am.

It is so great to be a woman and so dull to be a man !!! - I would imagine...

Vintage Makeup

There's a lot of how-to-do-great-vintage-makeup videos. I don't like most of them and usually I get really bored before it gets till the end. But these ones are different!
Helena Rubinstein videos:

1950s

1930s

There's nothing better than watching how professionals do it!

My favourite eye liner for I'm-in-a-hurry times is Yves Saint Laurent Easy Liner.
It's so easy... and sooo not waterproof.
That's why for more demanding look the best for me is MAC waterproof liquid eyeliner. Only some olive can remove it. Any olive is always good and you can also save some money on expensive makeup removers.

I really like porcelain complexion so to achieve it I constantly use whitening soap like Likas and creams with UV filters.

Not always I use foundation but powder YES! Just like hairspray.
Powder + Hairspray = necessity in finishing touch

It's so important to keep your skin healthy and even. If you do and when you're in a hurry don't use foundation, just powder your face and run!
I only use loose powders without any colour but recently Clinique and Estee Lauder don't work for me. It's transparent but it makes my face darker and I can see this terrible difference between my chin and decolletage. So I mix it with white loose powder:

I really like the look of Janet Leigh in 'Who was that Lady'. Everything! Clothes and eye makeup!

Also 'Come September' very nice movie!!!! with Gina Lollobrigida and so beautiful eyeliner shape!!!

From 30s my one and only is in the end Barbara Stanwyck but only in her femme fatale look that brought her possessive character in a real life and in the end divorce with her truly loved husband.
No eyeliner but lips...

Another star is Irene Dunne. She is absolutely great in the movie about divorce, love and the dog. I love the clothes! Yes she looks a bit like a polar bear in her first scene in this white huge fur but everything is so amusing!
And of course the scene as she's sitting depressed and apathetic in her apartment in this glorious long shiny dress not even thinking of going out !!! is the example for all ladies and
Ms H. who wander around home in ragged Tshirt.
Ms H. asked once for my boyfriends used army trousers, that even he didn't use anymore... so she could wear it at home. Fortunately my cat appeared to have more senses than Ms H. and peed on it. Sadly she didn't get it. I'm quite sure she didn't take it as a lucky coincidence and didn't learn the lesson.

Of course Betty Grable is always in truly Pin Up makeup, but perhaps her hairstyle is always more controversial than her makeup.

Me in 40s

Recently I started to buy more dresses from 1940.
It is more difficult since it is further in time. It is an occasion to get one in excellent vintage condition.

Closer to the body than 50s. Rather no volumetric shapes. Shoulder pads are very common. Still waist has a meaning. Length is longer, behind knee, half - calf.

Dita von Teese in her book describes it like this:

Till now I was mostly fascinated in hairstyles from this period. Until I bought my first one, on eBay, from amazing seller. God knows where does she take it from!
This unique dress was actually "brand new". Still with tags. So I am the first person wearing it.
I am not sure about the fabric. Cotton, wool, linen, rayon, acetate and silk were widely used.
I guess it is cotton and acetate lining.

Unfortunately I can not find any information about the company.
But this dress is really demanding. You have to make your hair and flats are out of question.
Otherwise you may be taken as slightly mental person. I know it doesn't look so scary on the photo but reality says something different.
My boyfriend hates this dress and -as always when he criticizes- calls it 'granny style'.
In spite of this I'm still trying to look good in it.
I know I failed with hair on this photo but ... next time ...

I should have gone for my 'the best in a hurry' option:

Which is probably more 50s but would fit better.

Going back to dresses... there is another one, from the same eBay seller, on its way :)
I am excited to find out how does it fit.

Rembrandt is quite popular brand among vintage dresses. You can easily find it online.
I already have one with the same label and I'm satisfied that is why I count on it.

There is something more... there is another one which I'd like to win but I'll have to wait couple of days more for maybe yes, maybe not.
Dress with jacket.
So let's hope the price won't go so much up.

1920's - 1930's

As my friend says 'It was a great time!!! They have been taking all kind of drugs and as much as they could because they thought it's harmless! The biggest party on the world!'

It happens that I don't really like it...especially I'm not so fond of 20s.
30s much more. When the waist went up and the shape became more specific.
But it didn't matter yesterday :) I was invited to a 'murder' party. The game - Guess who is a murderer.
The whole script written by my friend who has been playing for years.

Action:
It is 1927 at Cranthrope Manor the summer home of Sir Philip and Lady Irma Williams in the south west of England. They have had several guests over to stay and one of them, William Fort-Pitt, has been murdered. After initial enquiries have eliminated the staff as suspects; only the guests remain. It is up to you to figure out who is the killer.

My role:
Lady Irma Williams né Brown
Already twice married she appeared on the European social scene in Paris 6 years ago after divorcing her first husband a Texan cattle millionaire. Her second husband Le Compte de Ville died aged 86 leaving her fabulously wealthy and according to her heartbroken; within the year she had married one of London's most eligible bachelors.

Costume:
A woman who enjoys the finer things in life, she likes to show her wealth and truly believes that diamonds are a girls best friend.

I had a little problem. I don't really wear jewellery. I think that 40s and 50s are so colorfull itself that extra accessories may be inept. These shapes and fabric prints! So better less than more.
Anyway I improvised a bit. Dress maybe 80s bleee.. and some very ugly plastic necklace. I really don't like this effect...but well, it's not my strong side :)

But whom I really admire is Dita von Teese describing all past decades (the most important ones) in her Burlesque - Fetish book.

Dita's book is one of the best about glamour that I have. So inspiring!
All about corsets and different styles. Some latex clothes and being beautiful all the time.
I bought it on http://www.elounge.com/ where it was the cheapest offer that time.
You can always get it second hand from ebay or of course look there for a new one.
But if you love glamour you have to have it.

Anyway appeared that my sister Molly shot Pit, whos name was actually Krackburger, because he blackmailed her. Some years ago she had her own brothel :) and it could destroy her engagement with Rev. Gavin.
Next time I hope someone will be killed in 1940s or 1950s. Early 60s still accepted!
