Vintage Swimming Suit

Summer is over, there's only waiting for winter now.
There's no point to write about swimming suits, what I'm going to do and no point to shop for one, what I just did.
All vintage Lovers, who doesn't like bathing costume shape from 40s and 50s ?
Showing less than more, especially hip area, sometimes with stiff boning. My man hates the way it looks from behind. Well, did it ever stop me from buying it?
Makes me shiver but since Brazilian Waxing hasn't been born yet, so built up costumes helped to hide what's inevitable.

That's original photo by Andre De Dienes - surprisingly I've found some photoshoped versions.

Anyway... My boyfriend has mixed feelings towards the one I have...
From acceptance to hate, sometimes even aggression but still finds some power to ask me 'please never wear it again'.

In the end he felt relief when I showed him Lady K Loves vintage swimming suits reproduction that he found most disturbing. I did as well.. think it looks pretty glamour-less.
Some Vintage just should stay in Vintage.

Except For Luna that is so adorable !!! so burlesque and so colour-and-contrast and expensive obviously.

Quite quickly I found on eBay, obviously, genuine two piece bathing suit, made of cotton from early 60s with original labels that cost me just few pounds. Bra is bullet bra shape and it's based on a long one piece wire that you can't bend so forget about comfortable and efficient holiday packing system. I will have to tighten the strap around bust and neck and fix few stitches. Apart of that it's just perfect but perhaps still too old fashioned at the back for my man but he'll have to find this out next summer since I'm filtering reality to him ...sometimes.

I have no idea about other men but I'm afraid that it can be the case... one piece 40s50s shape may be just out of sexy look for male side. Other option means it's me, I'd rather not think about it.
and it doesn't mean I don't like it.

and two piece bikinis that finally became more popular and accepted...

I was always wondering what to do with your head since bathing cap is absolutely out of question. Pin curls and rollers out of logical sense.
Exceptionally scarf may be in use...

And this is where I'm getting to The Tattered Dress from 1957 that's only valuable because of Elaine Stewart and her swimming pool hairstyle.

To be prepared next time.

Mint Comeback in Saint Tropez by Dior

I haven’t written a word for a long time because life forced on me Amish lifestyle.

...maybe not that much….

Blogger without internet. I also stay without a mobile reach since my new flat isolate me from the rest of civilization. I’m happy I do have electricity though.

It makes me so excited! Living in Edwardian Church lifts me at least spiritually! and brings down financially.

I read somewhere that the biggest stress is your partners death, second - marriage and third  - moving. I guess I slide on adrenalin rush since I’ve moved with all my things, clothes, books and cats like 10 times, twice changing the country.
The rule is 'home is where I am'.
Advantage that I always 'find' my old 'lost' clothes and discover them from the beginning.

While I haven’t been here I started my deep interest in blue/mint nail polish and ended up buying Dior Saint Tropez.

Searching for some confirmation in 40s 50s fashion since that’s my guideline I’ve found this:

And some proof in old British film 'I am a camera' from 1955:
24th min
- Why do you say that I out shock?
- Why do you paint your fingernails green for example?
- To attract men. That's why. You know... to feel their eyes running up like mice.

Very fast I bought Dior Saint Tropez Nail Polish and started to cultivate it with half moon. It does make skin look whiter and whatever makes me look whiter, I’m in.
It's actually so annoying! Dries extremely fast so it's hard to apply carefully, especially if you have to shape half moon as well. Brush is kind of square shape that's suppose to help to apply much easier. Well, horror for me. I have to be definitively Sober when I do my nails with Dior Saint Tropez. Otherwise I could stick myself to the table with this amazing, swimming pool blue like, colour. But it stays forever! Treats my nails gently and healthy. I hate it but can't stop loving.

The best Hair in the history !!!

Lana Turner in 'The Bad and the Beautiful'.

It's not a hairstyle. It's a sculpture. A Masterpiece!

Here some photos of article from one book, I made it long time ago and forgot the book's title.

Jean Brooks in 'The Seventh Victim'.

Only 1943 but so innovative !!! I used to do it myself; grab scissors and cut the front in a shape of short fringe almost like cut from the helmet.
But I've been asked so many times to stop it that eventually I did...

Joan Caulfield in 'The Lady says No'.
Right away I started parting my hair in the middle.

Sandra Dee in 'If a Man Answers'.

And my yesterday's hair just before having a shower. I'm constantly experimenting, curling, testing styling products...
I must say Not bad! Not bad at all!

to be continued...

My Pet - 'treat your husband as a dog'

Average man receives much less affection and care than a pet.

I got so inspired by Sandra Dee look in this movie, which came like salvation since I'm quite tired of my hairstyle. It still needs improvement but couldn't be so bad if my course mate had an urge to get this photo.

Too flat, asks for back-combing and something more ...

Fallowing the movie:
If you want a perfect marriage treat your husband as a dog. Makes sense.
- Ignore the fact that Bobby Darin woke up one day, supposedly, and decided to divorce Sandra Dee. -
Pet him, stroke him. When I do it frequently but in small dozes he's always happy. It seems then he's not talking but starts even singing ..
Never loose your temper with a pet!!! I should write it in some visible place and practise concentration with relaxation in dramatic moments. It definitively puts an end to all arguments. However my aunt has a theory that big dogs just have to be overpowered physically. Just have a brutal fight, once and forever which will establish who the winner is.
If a pet doesn't want to fallow, just let him in the start. Later on when he's happy on his track just try to point him suddenly but firmly to your desired direction. I do have to try it harder. Usually when I say 'let's go there!' cross-grained he really objects and usually stays for next couple of hours in the same place. But if I ask 'so what do you want to do today?', there's a long list of ideas. Then it's not difficult to push him aside. A bit distracted maybe will even be satisfied.
Praise him all the time. Every single the most simple action. Like taking trash out, hoovering, washing dishes... eventually he will throw himself rapidly on everything he thinks he's good at. Yes, I recommend. Truly works.

I would definitively put to this guide:
Have some secrets.
Don't share the bathroom in the same time...unless you're having a bath.
Never tell true prices you paid.
Admit only to 1/4 or less shopping you did.
Always say that the thing you're wearing is so old and how could he missed that! - If you're asked.
Never underline you're going to a hairdresser or beautician. Even if you mention he'll never remember and will think you don't really need so much assistance. (I so fail in this matter)

Getting to basics:
Always wear sexy lingerie.
Wear black stockings...or at least stockings...
Sleep in alluring nighties. I, personally, sleep in extra, over the top alluring nightdresses to counterbalance use of teeth protector, I have to use because of bruxism, and pin curls.
Find out your the most beautiful version of I-feel-ugly-and-do-nothing-about-it instead of being seriously shredded.
Don't argue too much but in the end in silence always do your stuff, be true to yourself above all.
Trust only yourself.
Always be independent.

And if it doesn't work...fallow the movie and find yourself a lover, at least imaginary one.
