Shaking Vintage Energy

Recently I have plenty of time to spoil myself! But it is like a silence before the storm.
I expect some changes, mostly geographical ones. Which makes me really happy, terrified and excited.
I feel quite lonely and rejected here. Looking around and seeing Danish couture
(me - not - friendly) on Stroget which is widely appreciated and admired mostly (?) in Denmark itself, I miss a change.
Loving wide forms!
Stuck on 80s.
and comfort!

I admit I'll miss my flat and I'll hate to pack all the stuff. But that's not such a high price to pay for releasing from the world of copies.

When I move first I'll run to:

I'll just pass by:

I'll loose myself in there:

and I'll finish on this one:

Denmark has amazingly convenient public transport and luxurious bike roads. Quite pleasant emptiness on the streets. There's freshness in the air. High quality (rather high price) products only. Guarantees safety and support ,
...and no Heart at all.

Everything what I buy comes from UK. It's my source of fashion diamonds.
So I just can not wait to really try on some vintage hats! I just found on Vintage Network Worldwide a girl having around 200 vintage hats in her collection.
Simultaneously with hats she collects all kind of hat-boxes which are usually triple more expensive than hats.

I think I'm more into boxes so I'll need a lot of space!
And finally I'll stop buying hats with kind of closed eyes.

That is one of my favorite designers from 30s, one of the most innovative, Elsa Schiaparelli.

She "invented" shocking pink and started her friendship and cooperation with Salvador Dali creating Shoe Hat...

Wore by Gala and Dita von Teese in The Death of Salvador Dali.

There's something in Vintage fashion you can not find anywhere else. Just like with the music. Everything was already invented, it's just reused or reshaped. Just a matter of knowledge what was first.

"We must systematically cause confusion"
Salvador Dali

...creating series of dresses, designed by Dali:

So I can not wait to have a walk and see some variety. Find some inspiration here and there.
And minimize the dislikers group who can not fallow this simple rule in Europe and other parts of the world - I hope :
Not asked, Not encouraged, Don't comment someones look in public
(if it's not a compliment)
as it is just a sign of retarded rudeness
Minus is... these people unfortunately travel.

Extravagant Glamour

I found a photo of Catherine Baba on Dita's twitpic.

MySpace says Catherine is 75 years old. I doubt it but if so...Definitively she gained the knowledge and skills to shape her surroundings the way she feels like it.
MySpace C.Baba

Stylist

I am wondering if she surpassed her art already. I think yes. Something in it is so unique.
Extravagant Vintage Glamour.
So strong 20s.
Hats. Turbans.
Lots of plastic ?, metal ?, wooden ?  jewelery.
High heels.
Very japanese and vintage.

Pin-up and turbans

Coats and Kimonos and Turbans

I don't really like trousers. Especially leggings. But I guess it's the most modern element in this composition and it looks great. This yellow is just magic but it is true that it makes the skin look sick. No one looks good in yellow. In this case rebuilt in this mixture I LIKE IT.

I like the idea of degrading Kimono and treat it as accidental wrap.
The most simple The most difficult to invent.

Biking

The question is: how does she bike in this hat so it stays on?
Except winter, Bike is my transport. It is difficult in pencil skirts - if not unrealistic sometimes. Unless you do stocking city tour show.
High heels - doesn't make any difference.
Turbans keep close. That's easy.
But a Hat? Hat pins are not the best...perhaps tied scarf around the hat...I don't know.
And just now! I decided She's Not a Human.

I've seen one comment of this photo (up) on someones blog.
Saying it looks like 'homeless style'. Well...someone should throw a stone.

Head Clothes
It is always SO liberating Not to do your hair, just put something on your head.

This one is too Lego for me...

But these two!!! Which one is better? Not possible to decide.
And again.. How To Keep It On Biking ???

If this is the answer - now I understand. That's what I planed!

After this discovery I got even more fascinated with vintage hats. One source I can sincerely recommend is Crinoline-Lady selling original vintage headdresses from USA and UK.
Has constantly new-old stuff.

Furs

I know that furs are the signature of glamour in 20s, 30s, 40s, ....
But nowadays...when animals, pets are our friends and almost family members, perhaps would be good if some PETA demonstrator splash Ms. Catherine with red paint.
It gives her a lot of decadence look though.
(...could it be faux fur?)

And just a small Saprophyte which is here because my friend inspired me today to the conversation about Furs. You want to keep your fur close - keep your friend as well.

It looks like even Dita modeled herself on Catherine Baba this time.
However turbans look better on small more square faces...

So this is it.
Truly inspiring.

Christmas blood, Red, Petticoat

I am exhausted after Christmas. I would gladly kill some people but first I fed them.
Cooking and decorating.
I so appreciated my house coat made by amazing dressmaker Malgorzata Cielecka.
Unfortunately we've never met. Just done everything through post and mails.
But it is truly great artist who takes up all kind of challenges. I sent to her sewing pattern from 1950s which I won on eBay and I was the lucky one because Mrs Malgorzata agreed to do it.

When it appeared it really works this way... a new door opened for me! New cash flow!
I am regularly checking vintage sewing patterns since then.

There are so many things which I want to make or buy to improve and improve.
When I look at this ikea stripe apron I'm not sure if I shouldn't get rid of it.
F.ex. this unique Ginger Roberts apron in Monkey Business from 1952. Just in the beginning of this movie she's wondering around kitchen in tightly tied apron with frills. I so want it!
I couldn't find any better photo than this.

I planed to make it by myself when I'll finally bring my sewing machine. But then it's always more exciting the get original one. So I activate my internet search again.
There's nothing like looking so glamorous among pots and dishes. At least I'll be pretty in case of sudden building evacuation...

Getting to the point. Which was the red dress from 1940s. From one of my favorite eBay sellers. Zipped sleeves, asymmetrical neckline, only one pocket and pads.
Rayon with one tiny hole but no drama.

Looking nice in the kitchen doesn't guarantee perfect hairdo afterwards.

I decided to keep myself in red this Christmas. Just to keep your blood boiling and yourself ready to kill.

I already bought a huge cotton petticoat from houseofolivier.co.uk and I have to admit that it was 60GBP and worth it. Together with the corset and full skirt it does make contrast.

There's nothing like being squeezed in a corset. Having huge bottom and tiny waist. You move differently and you feel differently.
After some hours in it I get this strange feeling, I want something so badly !
but have no idea what?
I experienced that after swimming classes in primary school. Somehow I always thought it is Coca-Cola I wanted. Anyway...
In a corset you don't run. You're never in a hurry. It is absolutely not possible to move clumsy or ungraceful.

Modeling your waist by corsets is much easier than I thought.
Couple of months: in a corset from time to time and vintage look shaping lingerie rest of the time and the progress is noticeable.
Less marks it leaves, better fits.
But better fit means custom made. Well...it is on my list but I just satisfy myself with
ready-to-buy.
This one, is What Katie Did. Kind of belt - corset.
It is not perfect because the gap is far from being as it should be.  It should never touch.
I always felt that there is somewhere a good reason to have bigger hips.
It is very comfortable for day to day use.
It's possible to put it on in a short time and in the end even put the shoes on, totally tied.

So happy because of winning this amazing original 50s apron on eBay, I'll end this now.
I guess now I'll have to wear apron on apron.
